Did you know that the lifetime risk for developing cancer is 1 in 3?
Since 2003, the South Carolina Cancer Alliance (Alliance) has been working with partners across the state to reduce the impact of cancer by educating those in need about prevention and early detection.
We are proud to say that last year we accomplished so much. Some of our highlights include:
- In Columbia, we hosted five events that educated more than 400 healthcare providers, caregivers, and patients on recognizing depression, long-term side effects of cancer, and ways to increase cancer screening in vulnerable populations.
- In the Midlands and Pee Dee regions of our state, we worked with more than 35 churches to link their members with various cancer screening resources.
- Throughout our state, we informed over 150,000 South Carolinians on cancer risk factors, screening guidelines, and resources through our awareness campaigns.
- We worked with over 300 volunteers to provide lifesaving information through our community cancer campaigns.
